This experience is not about Cyclone Tracy. That story has been told. This is about what happened after — the messy, creative, politically alive decade that followed the disaster.
Darwin, 1975. Tracy had levelled 70% of the city on Christmas Day 1974. Federal planners were rebuilding it according to a blueprint many locals thought was wrong. And in Parap — at the pub, the railway club, a cinema rebuilt from a wreck — a small, loud, intensely Darwin community was making music, arguing about politics, and working out what kind of city they wanted to rebuild.
